Cookie policy
This policy explains which cookies and similar technologies are used on this site and in the app, what they are for, and how you can manage them.
What a cookie is
A cookie is a small file a website stores on your device when you visit it. It is used to remember information between pages or between visits, from keeping your session open to saving a language preference.
Alongside cookies there are other technologies with a similar function, such as the browser's local storage. Although technically not cookies, this policy treats them the same way, because from a privacy standpoint they raise the same questions.
Cookies this site uses
This website does not set any cookies. It stores nothing else on your device either: no local storage, and no identifier that would let us recognise you when you come back. It carries no advertising and no social media buttons.
We do measure how many people visit the site, using a tool that works without cookies. The next section explains which one and what it collects.
That is why you will not see a consent banner here: prior consent is required in order to store or read information on your device, and neither happens on this site.
Cookies in the app: session and preferences
The app, the private area you reach with an account, does need to store information in your browser to work. This is strictly necessary storage, exempt from consent because the service cannot be provided without it.
The following is stored:
- Session data — the token proving you have signed in, so you do not have to enter your credentials on every page. It is removed when you sign out.
- Interface preferences — the language you chose and display settings, so the app looks the way you left it.
This information is not used to build profiles or to track your activity outside the service.
Measuring visits
To know which pages of the site get read, we keep the count ourselves, in our own database. No external analytics service is involved: there is no third party your visits are sent to.
Three things are stored for each visit: which page was opened, on what day, and how many times. Nothing else. Your IP address is not stored, nor your browser, nor the time of day, nor where you came from, nor whether you had visited before. Nothing is written to your browser (no cookies, no local storage), so there is no identifier that follows you and no profile that could be built. That is why this measurement does not need your consent.
Because nothing is stored that tells one browser from another, what gets counted is page loads, not people: reload three times and it counts three. It shows which pages get read and which do not; it is not a headcount of visitors. That is the trade-off for not putting an identifier on you, and it is deliberate.
The number of sign-ups shown on the page is a count of the rows in the notify-me form. Those details, and how long they are kept, are explained in the privacy notice; they are not counted here, in the visit measurement, and the two are never cross-referenced.
Third-party cookies and advertising
We do not use advertising or social media cookies, either on this site or in the app. We do not use analytics cookies either: the measurement described above works without them.
The providers we rely on to deliver the service (hosting, payments and notifications) operate on the server side or within the mobile app, and their role is described in the privacy notice. When you make a payment, the process is completed in our payment provider's environment, which applies its own cookie policy.
How to configure or withdraw them
You can clear this site's storage or prevent it from being saved through your browser settings. Every current browser allows this, usually under privacy or browsing data, and each offers detailed instructions in its own help pages.
Bear in mind that if you block strictly necessary storage you will not be able to stay signed in and the app will stop working properly. The informational pages, by contrast, display without any problem.
Signing out from within the app removes the session token without you having to change any browser settings.
Updates to this policy
We may update this policy if the technologies we use or the applicable rules change. The date shown at the top indicates the most recent revision.
If a change meant we began using non-essential cookies, they would not be activated until you had given your consent.
